Starting a website to post unusual comics.
My plan to start a website promoting comics that they wouldn’t otherwise know about stretches back a long way and occasionally resurfaces in my mind, I’ve decided to have another bash at it.
I recently heard, on the Unknown Worlds podcast, that in the making of Battlefield 1943, the design goal of the entire project was reduced to a single sentence, “Revisit Midway Island.” and I’ve decided to use this idea in making my project a more feasible reality. So:
My goal in one sentence is:
Regularly post unusual comics.
Another trick I remember picking up somewhere (Possibly from Lifehacker.) was in stripping out every feature possible from the initial stage of a project. Instead of the big fancy website I often envision, a basic Tumblr blog with regular updates and a hopper of comics to keep a steady stream of posts up should suffice. Keeping things regular and unusual will be my first order of business but, I have enough I can pull from memory to get me started. In terms of regularity, I’m thinking twice a week, Tuesday and Saturday, would work well.
This is my first new serious commitment for some time, aside from going running regularly, which I’ve been doing for almost two weeks! More on that to come.
