Once a day blog? [Comics magazine.]
I’d just like to say that this idea doesn’t require a once a day schedule, it just seemed like a good example.
I’m currently going through various ideas for how to create some kind of independent comic’s media outlet, such as a website or magazine, and thought up this interesting idea for a hybrid of those two in particular.
The way this would work is simple enough to describe. Instead of a normal blog where post appear as they are posted. Comics, articles and other such content would be posted to some kind of editing area where they would be looked at, edited and then arranged. At a set time each night, the button is pressed and the arranged posts are put on the front page, replacing the previous day’s.
The interface presented to the user would be somewhat like this:
At the top of the page (but below the title) would be a banner with the days of the week on it, from here, people can go back and look at things in previous issues. Below this lies the important part. Each article, comic, etc.. gets a picture, title and blurb which people can click on to see the actual page pop out on top (darkroom style). The rectangles fit together and are arranged on
Ideally, the comics we’d be helping promote would be longer than your average webcomic and, as such, a few seconds at work isn’t going to help you appreciate them. As people know the site is going to stay the same all day, they are in no rush to read it and can set aside time to read the front page in it’s entirety, stopping to read items as they wish.
Should we use something like this, it’d probably begin with just one or two a month until we gather enough interest to increase regularity.
