Push ups and iPods
I came across this scheme on Lifehacker a while ago and it seemed like a neat idea and I have already stated that I needed to get some exercise in my life and while pushups may not seem that interesting, they don’t take long and don’t require me to go anywhere special to do them.
While my room lacks to sufficient floor space for pushups (read:”It’s a mess”) I can use the floor in the living room and for just thirty minutes a week, what have I got to loose.
One thing I find really motivates me to stay on track is putting up graphs to show on what days I did something (an Idea I also found on lifehacker: “Don’t break the chain“) around my computer so I look at them and the task at hand seems less of a mammoth task and more like a series of small steps. I currently have one up to do with my small buisness which has got pictures of various gadgets I want to buy around it. I’ve got a chain of four days on the trot since last Friday which keeps reminding me I need to get some more leaflets printed and distributed today.
When using one of these charts, I find that not requiring a minimum quantity of work to so on days where I really don’t feel up to doing much I can do something simple and while it may not be much, it’s better than nothing and makes me not feel guilty the next day so I win all round!
Shiny shiny!
I’ve given in an bought an iPod Classic; I got a reconditioned one off eBay for £130 (£120 without extended waranty) and, having had some experience with used electronics at CEX I should be fine, you should always make sure to get at least a years warranty, even if it cost you extra, other than that you should be fine. As it is a refurb, it comes with just the data cable and headphones which is something I am quite thankful for as all the other gubbins just takes up space (I have a ton of boxes on top of my wardrobe, need to get rid of the ones I don’t even have the products for any more) and I’ll be swapping the headphones out anyway. It should get here the wednesday so I’ll let you know how it shapes up when it gets here. I’ll also probably pick up a case or buy an invisible shield type thing depending on it’s condition when I get it; that or keep it in a sock.
